OntoSum

National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos" is a self-governing research organisation, under the supervision of the Greek Government. It is the largest research organisation in Greece and is internally subdivided into 8 research institutes. The Institute of Informatics & Telecommunications (IIT) aims at playing a pivoting role in research and development (R&D), as well as in the transfer and exploitation of R&D results in relevant sectors of the Greek and international industry and society. IIT participates actively in several National, European and International research and technology programmes in cooperation with companies, industries and other research organisations in Greece, Europe and worldwide. The Software and Knowledge Engineering Laboratory (SKEL) coordinates, among others, the OntoSum project.

 

During recent years, members of the research team have coordinated or participated in several European and national R&D projects and human networks. Researchers from the Informatics Department have also recently set up a spin off private company, i-sieve technologies ltd., with a main focus to exploit commercially the in-house developed technology for online content analysis (http://www.i-sieve.com).
